Ready for the secret to a PERFECT finish every tim Ready for the secret to a PERFECT finish every time?!

I wish it was more complicated… but y’all it’s all about taking it one step at a time and being patient!

Pre-Sand
Prime- or use a tinted primer first like I did here
Hand sand between thin coats
Use a tack cloth to get every small bit of dust removed
Keep coats thin, use the right tip for your application

Can’t fail with this!

Using @gracoinc sprayer

French cleats are so clutch when hanging heavy art French cleats are so clutch when hanging heavy art! I’ve used them for cabinets, tools, and literally a dozen other things! Do you cleat?!

They’re basically two boards cut at 45 degrees, one is mounted to the wall, one to the back of the piece you’re hanging. The two angles make contact and you’ve got a hold stronger than most anything would need! I generally do prefer to hit two studs on these, but for this piece, the one more than supports the weight.

Finally hung another mosaic I made by hand!

@skilpowertools Impact to attach to studs!
@boschtoolsna Wall scanner to make sure we get it right the first time, and to double verify for potential plumbing and electrical since the kitchen is behind this wall.
“Women are inherently helpless” Does that make y “Women are inherently helpless”

Does that make you mad? It should! It should also make you laugh because it’s ludicrous! This was one of hundreds, and I do mean hundreds of misogynist comments I received across social media in the last week.

Now I’m a lot of things- but helpless? I’d say I’m quite literally when definition of a go-getter, make it happen, fake it until you make it, let’s go, kind of gal.

In fact, the only time in my entire life I’ve felt “helpless” was when trying to get our son the help he needed early in life, or when I couldn’t fix someone’s pain or frustration- I’m an empath, to a fault. But, moments of feeling helpless are not “being” helpless. If you take nothing from this post or anything I’ve ever posted, take that.

One of my favorite quotes is from Hamilton- Aaron Burr sings “I am the one thing in life I can control, I am inimitable, I am an original” . I loved it so much that quote hangs in my home. It’s a constant reminder that we all have different paths. We’re all made different. Why try and imitate others? Why lose your originality? You don’t control what happens to you in life, but you control how you respond to it.

I’ll be a lot of things in life. But, you can bet every penny you have that I won’t ever find myself being helpless.

As a mom, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a business owner, a cheerleader, a therapist when needed, an advocate, the list goes on- you’ll never see me allow myself to feel helpless. And I’ll never teach my kids anything less than barriers are meant to be broken. Where there is a will, there is a damn way.
What are your thoughts on pipe?! For me- PEX-A and What are your thoughts on pipe?! For me- PEX-A and expansion fittings give serious main character energy!

Re-piping the entire bathroom for this renovation was a super easy choice! I knew our existing 30 year old copper which had already started failing wasn’t an option. So- after a lot of thought, I chose PEX-A from @sharkbiteplumbing and am so glad I did!!

Install was such a breeze! Expansion connections take mere seconds and once they cool you’re good to go with watertite seals and most importantly, you can keep on with the Job leak free!

What material you choose to plumb with is complicated, and every material has its fans and they all have their strengths and considerations. For me, with our climate, replacing all of the copper pipes with Expansion Pex from @sharkbiteplumbing was easy for me! But- regardless of your preferences Sharkbite has something for everyone!

Monday’s are for milling- am I right?! Breaking Monday’s are for milling- am I right?!

Breaking down some Honduran Mahogany for an upcoming project- whats your favorite wood species?! This one stinks to mill, like literally.

My personal favorites to work with are Pecan and Hickory- they’re one of the hardest woods I build from, and that provides so many challenges to getting a good finish, sharp blades and bits are a MUST, but they’re so worth it! Especially since I’ll use the scraps for smoking or grilling, yumm!

Pallet wood- wood we should build furniture out of Pallet wood- wood we should build furniture out of? Or the perfect place to cut sheet goods?! I guess you decide!

I’m voting for the former- and y’all, you’ll never see this girl use pallet wood for anything other than this or well as an actual pallet. Are y’all team pallet wood builds or no?!

@skilpowertools circular saw making these quick cuts easy!
