Shop is slowly but surely coming along! Loads of s Shop is slowly but surely coming along! Loads of small things to tackle but it’s getting there! Assembled a new work bench for the space yesterday and am back in the pantry working through some of those projects today! What are your dream shop additions? I’ve always loved being outside, but the older I get, the more I appreciate the fresh air and the more grateful I am to basically live in a mini forest. Granted- it means there’s always something to repair and fix, but it’s a labor of love for sure! What about y’all? Are you fans of the outdoors- or do you prefer to work indoors? Repaired fencing recently on out back property line- these often need repair from fallen branches during storms. Thankfully they’re fairly straightforward to fix. Quick removal of the damaged portions with @crescent_tool Nippers, measure and cut the new portion and replace. Improvise and make it work, right? Sometimes I h Improvise and make it work, right? Sometimes I have to remind myself of that, but with issues sourcing certain materials like toe kicks and side panels, I got creative and used some hardboard. I prefer to trim these in place with a trim router to be sure the perfect cut is made for the cabinets, a trim for the small bit that the router can’t reach with my small dovetail saw and a bit of hand-sanding with a sanding block and we’re good to go! One of the hardest things I have had to learn is to roll with the punches and make things happen even when there are things outside of your control. I’m a total type- A perfectionist, so it’s definitely hard to go against what I know is the “right” way- but sometimes I’m surprised by how well things worked out after all! What do y’all think? Back at it today and trying to finish up some of t Back at it today and trying to finish up some of the exterior work to get it ready for paint! It’s steaming hot in Texas- hard to believe it’s only June! What are y’all up to this weekend? Removing this piece of trim that transitioned the new addition to the original shop. When I replaced some boards I noticed some small gaps behind it and between the sheathing, so it was best to replace it since I had some extra pieces. Went ahead and filled the small gap with a small amount of low expansion spray foam. This seems like a small thing, but lord it’s plans to AC the new portion, every bit of air loss is a big deal in Texas! New trim piece is up now, and the breezeway siding has been caulked. Hoping to put a dent in caulking the shop side today too! Living on acreage has its perks! Without a doubt, Living on acreage has its perks! Without a doubt, keeping up with it this time of year can be really intense though- between rain that only stops for intense heat we’re extra busy right now! This mower is reserved for the tough trails- we have special blades on it to tackle the heavy leaves and small brush- but it’s also seen quite a few miles and sometimes it shows! It’s had a lot of struggles so far this season with the engine running really rough. Snagged a bottle of @stabilbrand Fast Fix- a really easy way to correct rough running engines, rough starts, and works to eliminate varnish and build up throughout your fuel system to give you smooth running all season long!
