Sanding these first few projects I made on the CNC was a total blast. I love playing around with epoxy and wood- especially when a CNC comes into play a lot of doors get opened! I have a million ideas brewing on ways to make my @i2rcnc work best for me, but I’d love to hear y’all’s feedback! What would y’all like to see?!

What’s the key to the perfect project? Attention to detail. I know- it’s my obsessive tendencies too- but from wood selection, to grain and figure matching, to perfect glue lines and joints- prep work is important! It starts at design, but doesn’t end until it’s glued up- material purchase, milling, it’s all in the prep! People often mistake the prep work as being somewhat less important that finishing- while I see them as equally key. This begs the question, what do y’all do to prepare for a project? And do you think prep or finishing is more important?

Do you even scrape? No really- are y’all fans of Card Scrapers? I’ve said it before, it took me a while to really love them, but I completely think they’re a really cost effective way to tackle a lot of surface imperfections on wood. Whether leveling, removing glue, smoothing, or saving serious sanding time, they’re ultra handy and really offer a lot of control! So- what do y’all think? Fans of card scrapers? Or not your thing?

The photo of the shavings was one of my first “successful” attempts at using a card scraped. There is definitely a learning curve but it’s like anything in the shop, the more you do it, the better you will get! Biggest advice I would give is to first master keeping a sharp and properly shaped edge. You use a burnisher on Card Scrapers and while not hard, there’s a certain art to it. Be prepared for a solid arm work out too! Take care of them, and they’ll take care of you!

Happy New Year, Y’all! 2021 is a welcome new chapter, that’s for sure! I’m most looking forward to continuing to push my skill set and try new things, as well as fresh builds, projects and at least 87 new renovation projects in our home! I will say that one thing I have to get done this year is this shop expansion! I am still trying to find the right contractor to handle a portion of that, so let’s pray I get that squared away soon! What are y’all’s goals or resolutions for 2021?!

This year held soo many projects that finding a favorite would be impossible! What I can do though, is tell y’all about the biggest! I honestly dreamed about this the moment I saw this house. We had been looking at homes for 9 months, and after so many disappointments, our previous home sold and this home caught my eye. I don’t even know why- okay, honestly the property sold me before the house, because honestly the photos were pretty rough and I knew it would be a long process to get it updated and in shape. But, I saw the big orange house and had a vision of how the exterior could look with a little love! I know a few folks weren’t a fan of this transformation- and others were obsessed- but I honestly love it more everyday! It’s distressed beautifully, and brightens the whole property! What’s the absolute biggest project you’ve taken on? Any regrets??

If I’m being honest, 3 years into this house and we have sooo much work to do! There will be no shortage of renovation content mixed in with woodworking in 2021, from bathrooms to kitchens to closets, it’ll be a great year!

Y’all! Started the highly anticipated, talked about, dreamed about, Limewashing Project on our home today! I am using @romabiopaints Limewash in Avorio White, and the @gracopaintsprayers Magnum ProX17. I am totally obsessed, and blown away by how quickly and efficiently this sprayer worked with the limewash! I was super nervous to get this started, but we had to take advantage of the stunning weather here in Texas! Are y’all fans of the Lime-washed look? *
