Pallet wood- wood we should build furniture out of Pallet wood- wood we should build furniture out of? Or the perfect place to cut sheet goods?! I guess you decide!

I’m voting for the former- and y’all, you’ll never see this girl use pallet wood for anything other than this or well as an actual pallet. Are y’all team pallet wood builds or no?!

@skilpowertools circular saw making these quick cuts easy!

Sometimes showing up is hard. It sounds simple, bu Sometimes showing up is hard. It sounds simple, but sometimes it’s so difficult to try and show up and put a brave face on when life is a struggle. To show ip authentically is even harder, but I promised myself that this year I would allow myself to be authentic, whether good bad, or in between. As the song goes - “keep rolling”

We all are fighting battles that none of us can really explain to others. Sometimes it’s work, sometimes it’s managing schedules, tutoring your kids, managing a business, trying to be everything for everyone, and sometimes in the midst of all those daily struggles, there’s sometime extra.

A single incident that forms a massive chasm in your heart that you can’t possibly process smoothly. Today- I was reminded of one of the cruelest parts of the world, where kindness is gone and compassion and empathy are absent. Seeing that and the effect it had on my son just about crushed me.

I can’t remember anything- any diagnosis or surgery recovery hurting quite as much as this did. I delivered this child unmedicated, after 10 weeks on hospital bed rest, after 7 miscarriages, 12 surgeries, and a million heartbreaks in between just to meet this miracle. You’d think I’d be ready for just about everything. I think I’m known as being pretty dang resilient if nothing else. But nothing could have ever hurt me as much as seeing the recognition in his eyes when he realized someone he thought was his friend made a joke at his expense.

Now I know- kids are kids. But you want to change the world? Let’s all agree to raise our kids to show compassion and empathy. Teach them to respect others. Remind them that race, religion, or any other subset of identities is not a reason to judge another human. Just as having disabilities of any kind doesn’t make that human any less than you or I.

So- here’s the Autism Awareness post I didn’t intend to make today, but if I’m honest, this was the only way I could show up authentically today.

Walnut for use as drawer bottoms- milled to 1/4 inch thick!

This song is one of many that has been a recent fave of mine- I really need to start sharing my shop flow playlists soon! @notatoy Doomsday Holiday 🤘🏻

Anyone else just love to get their hands dirty?! Anyone else just love to get their hands dirty?!

I will look for reasons to play in the dirt. I have a feeling I will continue to do this at any age, and I don’t regret it one bit!!

Moved about 50 yards today of dirt and mulch to different areas of our property this past weekend! The mini excavator made filling three wheelbarrows super fast- Matt and the kids then took each load where it needed to go! It must have been at least 50 trips a person! The remaining material was spread on this side of our property for 2 reasons- improving the soil, with heavy clay and silt on this side, working through some fresh mulch and compost will improve the soil enough to expand my orchard soon!! Plus, adding to low spots will improve our drainage which is so important with the amount of rain we often get in southeast Texas!

One of these days, I’ll finally buy a tractor that can do a wide range of things, but renting for the weekend a couple times a year is always well worth it!
SKIL’s new Smart Caddy is definitely Miter approve SKIL’s new Smart Caddy is definitely Miter approved! And when it involves our yard and tennis balls- well hes the one to win over!

Three Labradors in my house- means we pick up a lot of tennis balls while mowing! No matter how long I spend scanning the yard before I pull the mower out, I never fail to miss some, plus all our trees mean sticks are everywhere!

SKIL added the Smart Caddy to their latest 40V Self-Propelled Mower to give homeowners a solution. The onboard storage caddy offers a dedicated spot to store the things that get in the way.

Tossed the sticks right into our burn pile, and had a perfect supply of tennis balls for the dogs, must admit, they were big fans!

Updates to this post I shared a few months ago! Updates to this post I shared a few months ago!

First-I’ll answers few question’s-
What you’re seeing is a removal of the temporary unit, this is installed under general anesthesia to gauge whether installing the permanent one will provide pain relief. The removal itself isn’t painful exactly- more very strange. These leads are rubbing against your spinal cord when removed, so it’s an odd sensation, but not “painful”

No one forced me to do this. I saw a lot of feedback on how doctors only offer this to make money or various other reasons, and while I don’t discount anyone else’s experience, I asked for this. My doctor and I spent over a year trying to get this pain under control trying every method under the sun with no significant improvement. When I hit the two year mark from my really big spinal surgery (two-level fusion) I wanted to pursue this.

It is very hard, even with good insurance to get even the trial approved, let alone the permanent unit that followed. I was very fortunate that my doctor advocated so well for me! It is an expensive procedure, so insurance won’t encourage it, that for sure!

I did find relief with the temporary unit, not 100%, but enough that I moved forward with the permanent unit. I had the @medtronic Inceptiv unit placed- which is MRI compatible and has some really neat added features.

I do feel the unit under the skin. It’s hard to miss. The battery specifically is about 3/8 or an inch thick and about a 2X2 inch square.

I charge it every 5 days or so, based on how my settings are. When higher, it’s closer to every 3 days, when very low it’s about 10 days of battery life.

I control it with a phone, that has an added communicator on the back that syncs to the device. We call this my “back phone” which makes the family laugh every time.

I use a wireless rechargeable device that I place over the internal battery and it charges through the skin. It’s weird. Generally takes about an hour to fully charge the battery if it’s almost drained. Charging your spine will never- “not be weird” but it’s worth it for the relief!
