I don’t know about you, but I am a huge fan of the holidays. For all of us in Texas, it is usually still fairly warm in October, but that doesn’t mean it stops us from getting into the holiday spirit. Today we are going to take a look at a fun and quick project that kids are sure to enjoy too while using minimal tools that almost every homeowner will have. The first step in all of this is to gather the materials and tools you need. I find the more organized I am the better the project goes! This is probably super obvious, but I find I have to always remind myself of that!
I used about an 18 inch by 18-inch scrap of plywood and sketched the cut lines for the ghost. I will say, I am by no means an artist but the good things about using pencils is they are erasable.
Now it is time for the cutting. Using a Jigsaw can take a bit of practice to get used to, so it’s a great idea to do a few practice cuts before you attempt the full shape. Skil’s Jigsaw is a great model to start on because the vibrations are minimal and settings are easy to adjust to get your best results.
Once you’re happy with the shape, I grabbed a sander and smoothed the edges, as well as the top.
Now we are ready to decorate! I used a white paint that is rated for exterior use, Milk Paint from General Finishes in Snow White.
I used black acrylic for painting the faces. I added a few additional details to add some extra personality to our happy ghosts with bows.
The last thing to do is add a stake or hanger depending on where you want to place it and display your cute decoration!
