Ryobi is a well-known brand in the homeowner and maker realm. They provide a wide range of tools that users love for their budget-friendly price point and a unique lineup that has tools very few others attempt. A Little about the Brand-
Ryobi Cordless Rotary Tool Review
Ryobi is the name you can’t miss walking into any Home Depot Store. Even in my smaller Home Depot, there are numerous end caps dedicated to everything from OPE to tool staples, and unique specialty offerings like pool lights and floor sweepers.
With a line so vast, it is always curious to see what they will come out with next. Their ONE+ 18V line of tools offer over 100 tools for users to pick from, and even their battery sizes have advanced including both smaller battery packs such as the 1.5Ah included with this tool, all the way to a 9Ah battery for incredible run time on tools.
So, when you see a brand like Ryobi come out with a twist on a shop staple, you better believe I was paying attention. Rotary Tools are a must for any shop. Particularly a hobbyist will find a lot of use for these versatile tools. I find myself constantly grabbing a Rotary Tool for odd jobs. I own four previous models of different sizes and makes myself, that all seem to be unique in performance. This Ryobi option had me truly curious as to how it would line up in my collection, but I gotta tell you, its easily my favorite rotary tool at this point.

Ryobi has this marketed towards homeowners and hobbyists as a fair few of their tools are. To me though, this is an option for anyone looking to drop the cord but also maintain a lot of versatility in application. For beginning users, I would definitely say this is the tool to start on since it offers so much comfort and control over its use.

Wrap Up-
Ryobi Cordless Rotary Tool Review
This tool blew me away. Being someone who owns and has as much experience as I do with rotary tools, it is fairly difficult to impress me. I found this entire tool to be incredibly well thought out, and it wasn’t lacking in power either. The Ryobi Cordless Rotary Tool is intuitive with impressive controls and layout. The onboard accessory organizer was a standout, while the power knob was responsive and gives the user ultimate control.
The Construction was also well executed. High-Quality connections between the pen shaft and base were considerably higher quality than is commonly found on homeowner grade tools. The small additions like rubber feet to reduce movement, and the keyholes for mounting add a lot of convenience to this tool.
I use Rotary Tools in a huge range of ways, From cleaning up carved wood designs to small touch ups and sanding intricate patterns, or small tasks like cleaning up keyholes or filled profiles, it is a very versatile tool. One thing I found I loved using this tool for was cleaning up small blemishes on fresh turned wood. Because it offers so much control, it is suitable for even the most intricate work.
It shining spot though, is easily its pen shaft design. My other Cordless Rotary Tool is heavy and awkward to use, which is generally what has kept me using corded Rotary Tools for most of my jobs. I love that the controls and battery are on the home base of the tool, using solid connections the flex shaft allows the user an optimal user experience with minimal discomfort.
