Angels on earth come in all forms. We’ve been bl Angels on earth come in all forms. We’ve been blessed to know so many amazing humans and animals alike that I’m beyond certain we’re placed in our lives to teach us, love us, and guide us through our toughest phases. One such soul moved onto heaven yesterday- our favorite therapy horse- Stretchy.

When Ben was first diagnosed with Autism, we all scrambled to find help. Those first few years post diagnosis were a blur of appointments, stress, tears and some seriously beautiful moments intermixed that kept our hearts full at their emptiest.

We met Summer when Ben was 5, she was one of those people you meet and instantly know that you’ll be forever connected. She happened to come with some super fun animals that Ben would instantly love. We spent 4 hours a day, every day to bring Ben to Summer, her crew and the sweet therapy animals that offered something no one else could.

Ben instantly loved Stretch. It’s hard to even remember how shocking it was, but at a time when Ben was non verbal, and struggling significantly with delays and health issues like seizures and immune system failures- he knew one thing- that Stretch was his. Ben spoke some of his first phrases on the back of this horse, he learned all kinds of daily tasks like feeding the horses, brushing them, and before you knew it, Ben was leading this massive animal around the pen as if it was his purpose.

Stretch was possessive with Ben too- he wasn’t much of a fan of Ben ever riding the other horses. He was so patient with him too, and while we always believed in Ben, Stretch, Summer and their team renewed our faith in ways no one could understand. To say we’re grateful to them is such a massive understatement. Ben spent several years doing therapy here, and it’s one of the many things that gave him a voice he wasn’t sure he had.

Today Ben is 11, and while we no longer can swing by to visit Stretch, I am so grateful for the impact he had on our lives. He will forever be a hero in the form of the sweetest horse I’ve ever known. Rest In Peace sweet Stretch, you’re missed beyond words.

Summer is now heading up the @bregmancares Foundation-

That’s a monster of a bit y’all! But- big hole That’s a monster of a bit y’all! But- big holes need big bits! What’s the largest bit y’all use?

I invested in a large 4 inch hole saw bit recently. I had a few projects I needed it for so it was time to invest in a solid bit to make quick work of holes for vents, light boxes etc. I’ve had cheaper ones- but it’s a waste if you’re replacing them constantly. and to be honest, good bits are huge for comfort in something like this too- less torque, quicker cutting- good carbide makes all the difference! Even if it’s a tool that I don’t use daily, I still believe in spending money on good bits. In my many years of building, I’ve never regretted that once!

Ran through a layer of plywood- my @rockwoolna Insulation and siding in a matter of 30 seconds with this bad boy. Had to install a vent for my @glowforge when I moved it to the new shop space!

Snagged this @diablo_tools Hole Saw Bit at @homedepot . Rocking the ever fabulous @truewerk jacket and my @dewalttough Hammer Drill.

Never- ever- be scared of hard things. Its easy to Never- ever- be scared of hard things. Its easy to get comfortable, and to get stuck in the rut of repetition. Allow yourself the chance to stretch, and breathe in a way you can grow from. What’s a major risk or scary change you’ve made recently?

For me- I live for the challenge. It’s good for me to be uncomfortable. I do my research, ask the right people and then go for it. It’s wild when you start to unpack some of the things you do, and often they are things you weren’t sure you ever could do. This whole pantry fell into that category. Much like the shop expansion, I felt out of depth leading up to it. I tried to convince myself I couldn’t as often as I told myself I could. Sure enough though- we pulled it off. I still need to wrap these beams, 6 months later and I’m just praying to get to it soon.

For those wondering they weren’t structural. It’s a strange set up, but it used to be a breezeway. The land beams that fall on the sides, now those are. Essentially keeping some added some cross tensile strength, but it wasn’t something you absolutely had to keep if you didn’t want to. Naturally, I overbuilt- I think it’s okay to add to something as long as it’s rated to support the weight.

To all the bad asses out there that take risks- keep on keepin on.

A Jigsaw for Demo? Why or better yet- why not? T A Jigsaw for Demo? Why or better yet- why not?

Tools are what you make them. It’s so often less about the tool, and really about the person using it, and demo is no exception. It’s great to think outside the box and find unconventional uses for all of our tools- no matter what it is! Often times you’ll find yourself in those situations, where you wish you would have grabbed tool A instead of Tool B- so being quick to find a solution is always a win. Does it have limits for demo? Gosh, yes! But it’s still a great option for light demo. I had a reciprocating saw close by- but really, this is an old trick I came up with for breaking cabinets into smaller sections and it really does work like a dream!

So- for what it’s worth- do it your way. 💪🏻
