What are your thoughts on pipe?! For me- PEX-A and What are your thoughts on pipe?! For me- PEX-A and expansion fittings give serious main character energy!

Re-piping the entire bathroom for this renovation was a super easy choice! I knew our existing 30 year old copper which had already started failing wasn’t an option. So- after a lot of thought, I chose PEX-A from @sharkbiteplumbing and am so glad I did!!

Install was such a breeze! Expansion connections take mere seconds and once they cool you’re good to go with watertite seals and most importantly, you can keep on with the Job leak free!

What material you choose to plumb with is complicated, and every material has its fans and they all have their strengths and considerations. For me, with our climate, replacing all of the copper pipes with Expansion Pex from @sharkbiteplumbing was easy for me! But- regardless of your preferences Sharkbite has something for everyone!

Monday’s are for milling- am I right?! Breaking Monday’s are for milling- am I right?!

Breaking down some Honduran Mahogany for an upcoming project- whats your favorite wood species?! This one stinks to mill, like literally.

My personal favorites to work with are Pecan and Hickory- they’re one of the hardest woods I build from, and that provides so many challenges to getting a good finish, sharp blades and bits are a MUST, but they’re so worth it! Especially since I’ll use the scraps for smoking or grilling, yumm!

Pallet wood- wood we should build furniture out of Pallet wood- wood we should build furniture out of? Or the perfect place to cut sheet goods?! I guess you decide!

I’m voting for the former- and y’all, you’ll never see this girl use pallet wood for anything other than this or well as an actual pallet. Are y’all team pallet wood builds or no?!

@skilpowertools circular saw making these quick cuts easy!

Sometimes showing up is hard. It sounds simple, bu Sometimes showing up is hard. It sounds simple, but sometimes it’s so difficult to try and show up and put a brave face on when life is a struggle. To show ip authentically is even harder, but I promised myself that this year I would allow myself to be authentic, whether good bad, or in between. As the song goes - “keep rolling”

We all are fighting battles that none of us can really explain to others. Sometimes it’s work, sometimes it’s managing schedules, tutoring your kids, managing a business, trying to be everything for everyone, and sometimes in the midst of all those daily struggles, there’s sometime extra.

A single incident that forms a massive chasm in your heart that you can’t possibly process smoothly. Today- I was reminded of one of the cruelest parts of the world, where kindness is gone and compassion and empathy are absent. Seeing that and the effect it had on my son just about crushed me.

I can’t remember anything- any diagnosis or surgery recovery hurting quite as much as this did. I delivered this child unmedicated, after 10 weeks on hospital bed rest, after 7 miscarriages, 12 surgeries, and a million heartbreaks in between just to meet this miracle. You’d think I’d be ready for just about everything. I think I’m known as being pretty dang resilient if nothing else. But nothing could have ever hurt me as much as seeing the recognition in his eyes when he realized someone he thought was his friend made a joke at his expense.

Now I know- kids are kids. But you want to change the world? Let’s all agree to raise our kids to show compassion and empathy. Teach them to respect others. Remind them that race, religion, or any other subset of identities is not a reason to judge another human. Just as having disabilities of any kind doesn’t make that human any less than you or I.

So- here’s the Autism Awareness post I didn’t intend to make today, but if I’m honest, this was the only way I could show up authentically today.

Walnut for use as drawer bottoms- milled to 1/4 inch thick!

This song is one of many that has been a recent fave of mine- I really need to start sharing my shop flow playlists soon! @notatoy Doomsday Holiday 🤘🏻

Anyone else just love to get their hands dirty?! Anyone else just love to get their hands dirty?!

I will look for reasons to play in the dirt. I have a feeling I will continue to do this at any age, and I don’t regret it one bit!!

Moved about 50 yards today of dirt and mulch to different areas of our property this past weekend! The mini excavator made filling three wheelbarrows super fast- Matt and the kids then took each load where it needed to go! It must have been at least 50 trips a person! The remaining material was spread on this side of our property for 2 reasons- improving the soil, with heavy clay and silt on this side, working through some fresh mulch and compost will improve the soil enough to expand my orchard soon!! Plus, adding to low spots will improve our drainage which is so important with the amount of rain we often get in southeast Texas!

One of these days, I’ll finally buy a tractor that can do a wide range of things, but renting for the weekend a couple times a year is always well worth it!
