Laser Levels used to be thought of as a “pro-only” tool. Seen only on large construction sites, their price tag was often completely prohibitive to most users. Today though, with time and technology advances, they become less expensive and more widely produced. One of the very intriguing options comes from Skil Power Tools, combining advanced technology with a reasonable price point. Lets take a closer look at the Skil Laser Level Review.
About the Tool
Skil Laser Level Review
Laser Levels are essentially devices that project a laser beam and allow a user to define a level line in larger spaces or from great distances. These tools can be invaluable for projects like installing shelves, fences, cabinet installs, and a multitude of other things like plumbing and electrical system installs. If you’re like me though, once you own one you end up coming up with a dozen other uses like hanging art, remodeling projects and literally everything in between.
Standout Features
Skil Laser Level Review
SKIL starts their laser level with a green cross line laser, providing increased visibility over traditional red lasers.
Measuring marks on the laser allow easy incremental markings and can be adjusted based on laser distance.
SKIL included a self-leveling feature, something exceptional for a laser at this price point. Additionally, the lock mode allows alternate angles to be used and locked in for precision applications.
Integrated battery, with micro USB charger allows convenient charging on the go.
Easy to use threaded inserts on both top and bottom are a standard 1/4 inch size, allowing mounting on most tripods are stands.
Skil includes a carrying case and a clamp to be used with the laser as well, which were helpful in both use and transit.
Value
Skil Laser Level Review
Where SKIL seriously shines in this tool is their price point. I remember my first laser level being multiple times the cost of this one, and it didn’t have near the accuracy or feature set. SKIL has a great lineup of tools just like this one, that include pro grade features and manage to come in significantly lower than their competitors. This model can be found on Amazon for about $65.00, a price that is hard to meet with any other manufacturer.
My Thoughts
Skil Laser Level Review
Laser Levels are honestly an incredible tool to add to your lineup, and with manufactueres like SKIL offering them at reasonable price points, virtually every user will find a range of tasks that are easier with a laser level.
SKIL really packed this bad boy with a great set of features. Love how easy it is to recharge using the USB connection, so whether at home, in the car or basically anywhere these days you can easily keep it powered up. Additionally, it has battery indicators, something that really helps when you opt to travel with it.
My favorite feature is easily the measuring marks on the cross laser. If you’re projecting the laser on a wall, you can easily move the laser closer or further away to adjust the spacing too. For a lot of common applications these are just incredible. Ironically, my Dad immediately thought of how great this would be for tile installation, something I agree would make a job like that a lot easier!
The Green cross laser provides visibility of up to 65 ft, so for the variety of home based applications the range is more than sufficient. As well, green lasers are well known for their improved visibility over red lasers, particularly in bright lighting.
Skil did an exceptional job once again bringing a once inaccessible tool for the masses available to all users, without sacrificing performance. Whether a homeowner or a pro- the SKIL Laser Level has something for everyone to love.
